How to deal with Self-Sabotage

Learn to make more empowered choices for yourself by letting go of what gets in the way

Maybe you know how it feels to be trying your best to go for a life of joy and fulfiment and positive living, only to find that somehow you keep on being pulled back, as if by some invisible thread into the old all too familiar negative reactions and responses. The limiting beliefs we have about ourselves, that we have built up over the years seem to pull us back into a dark place all too often.

Accept Yourself First!

The first step in creating the life of our dreams is to arrive at a place of true self acceptance. To begin the process of accepting ourselves, we might want to consider these questions.

Self-improvement is great if it’s done in a spirit of fun and creativity; however, if we are always feeling that we aren’t good enough as we are, we will never be satisfied by any of the changes we make. The first step in creating the life of our dreams is to arrive at a place of true self acceptance. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t things we would like to change. It does mean that our happiness with ourselves does not depend on these changes. If we do not love ourselves unconditionally, it will be difficult for others to do so.

Relationship Success 101: Accountability Circles, Peer-Leaders and Your Personal Posse - Part Two

In a previous article I spoke about support groups and how to get started building your support network.  Now we’ll get into the groups you will want to develop for yourself to hold you accountable, celebrate your wins, and keep you on track.

One of the three groups I suggest is your accountability circle.

The purpose of this group is to hold you accountable to your commitments.  Ever notice how much more you accomplish when you’ve committed to someone else?  That’s the power of accountability.  The people (which could be a few as one other person) in your accountability circle can be used to check in with, as well as help problem solve any obstacles which could come between you and your desired goals.

What’s More Important? Your Goal or The Path You’ve Chosen?

There’s a difference between pursuing a goal and following a plan. One of the two must be the reason for the other. Being too committed to a specific action plan can actually keep you from focusing on your goal. What happens then could take you to the wrong destination!

How committed are you to the plan you are working to accomplish your goal? What if the plan is not really moving you to your goal? What will you do with your plan? Friedrich Nietzsche once observed “Many are stubborn in pursuit of the path they have chosen, few in pursuit of the goal.” If he was right, you don’t want to be part of the majority!

Success Coaching 101: Inspire Your True Essence

One of the essential qualities you need to heal from old, self-limiting beliefs is the permission to be unique and different. Give yourself permission to be the true you.

What truly inspires you and motivates you?

What is it you feel the most passionate about and what are you most driven by?

What is it that you’ve always wanted to do but maybe haven’t given yourself permission to do?

Yeah…all those. All those dreams you’ve disregarded because of the excuses you’ve fed yourself…”I’m too old?…”I’m too young?… “I don’t have enough money?… “I don’t have enough training or education.?

Persistence ? But With the Right Attitude!

Most
people give up just when they’re about to achieve success, they
give up at the last minute of the game, one foot from a winning
touchdown.?

J. Ross Perot, multi-millionaire businessman

Persistence
and perseverance. Those words imply ACTION. Those words are two of
the most important for your success.

Defining
your dream comes first, then breaking it down into monthly, weekly
and daily goals comes next. Then, step by step, day by day, take some
form of right action to make those dreams happen.

Goals Need Protecting From Success Saboteurs!

When a person creates an exciting idea and wants to see their vision grow and prosper, it is important to determine with whom to share that idea.  It is critical to avoid the success saboteurs and to embrace the people who are supportively honest and trustworthy.

There are people, usually due to their own insecurities, who will directly or indirectly attempt to DASH (sabotage) your dreams.  They are the Dream-Dashers.  If you truly believe in something you want to accomplish, whether for yourself or to aid others, do not let the Dream-Dasher in.  They will diminish your vision and squelch your excitement before you realize what is happening.
